Adriano Baldanzi and Alessandro Novelli, after having studied Industrial Design in Florence, started their activity along with some other colleagues and were busy with corporate design and image. They operate within various goods sector such as stuffed goods, motor-bike helmets, electrical household appliances, air conditioners, etc. In 1984, thanks to the knowledge and experience ripen the “Studio Baldanzi & Novelli” was born, the CASAMANIA company was established, a company for interior design furniture accessories, that, afterwards, in a few years were then, first distributed by FREZZA and, afterwards sold to it. With FREZZA Spa a very good cooperation with the brand CASAMANIA BY FREZZA went on and for it the “studio” designed dozens of products, among which stands the shelving system called FESTIVAL, designed in 1988, which was updated year by year so to make it always be fashionable and so to widen its possibilities. Starting from 1991 the “studio” started dealing with office armchairs and designed “DATA“, a small-sized armchair for collectivity for which the “studio” was awarded with the FORUM DESIGN OFFICE at EIMU in Milan and Köln, the seat concept designed by B&N has been afterwards adopted by some other companies. In 1995 B&N met the BUM company, which asked the “studio” to design a product that might identify the company on the international market, an effective seat that can cover various sectors, a product that can give visibility to the BUM company itself, so EVERYDAY is made and with it a close cooperation between B&N and BUM was started. The Everyday system is a very wide design program ranging from office armchairs to manager ones belonging to a new concept, everything at sight, to the operational and visitor ones as well as to the waiting and collectivity ones, a very few companies have tried to make such a wide range. The experience with BUM went on, the “studio” designed CONTACT, to cover a more classical sector even if with innovating look where the use of wood is exalted by the smooth back curving. VELA was born on the Everyday basis, a seat with back in canvas, the use of technical fabric stimulated the shape so making the armchair really comfortable without any use of stuffing. The last to be born in the time, within the cooperation of B&N and BUM is VIGOR, which, of course, was born from the previous experiences to integrate a product range going from the operational to the managerial seats. VIGOR has intentionally everything at sight, including the adjustments, and exalting them by big handles, the aluminium “spider” is the frame and sight product feature, the plastic at sight is exalted in the shapes. The introduction of Tecnogel ® gives a further comfort feature going beyond the first sensation, it is a “look-product”, responding to the contemporary demands. The “studio” went on with its experience in the seat field and designed a collectivity system, CAMPUS, designed for EMMEGI seats for University where has focused in the making of a system that might catch the new concepts of assembly and by overcoming any difficulty due to the different features of the installation sites and of the various architectonic typologies. For EMMEGI the B&N Studio designed also FLOW, a very beautiful seat, a brand-new one in its kind, soft in the shapes and with an innovating system to adjust the back height made in plastic and passed through by a series of funnel-shaped rhythmical hollows, equipped with a personal jacket-holder, with or without stuffing. With LAMM the “studio” has focused on the designing of a theatre armchair, C600 is a small-sized armchair for minimalists, with a “hidden motor”, the armchair is in fact characterized by a closing system in synchrony of the seat with the back while compacting the seat so making up for room between one row and the other, all this in order to make both the outflow of persons in emptying the building and the cleansing of the same easier. For SITLAND Spa, a leading company in the seat sector, B&N designed a table system for home computer, DRUMS, so giving new opportunities to the company itself to fully exploit its business opportunities, DRUMS is a table with various composition possibility, five top shapes in three different materials, three types of legs along with a dozen of accessories undergoing a continuous evolution, the system core is a plastic under-top frame on which all the frame and accessory details aggregate, a synthesis of technologies continuously updating. The “studio” has also dealt with lighting with TRONCONI, a historical company, by designing LUCY BELL, a lighting system with low tension cables, interior design pieces of furniture for BONALDO such as multi-use small-sized trolleys, has also worked for CIATTI and designed interior design pieces of furniture. For MECO they designed GOLF a light metal office system with tables, small-sized walls and containers. The products designed by Baldanzi & Novelli are now distributed all over the world, very often celebrated and given prizes, published by the most important international magazines of this sector and not only, where used to arrange the sets for TV programs for adaptations, periodical programs or entertainment ones, the last among the very successful ones, “Il grande fratello”, transmitted by Canale 5. In its development, the “studio” has dealt with corporate image and artistic management, while considering all this as complementary to the main activity of DESIGN.
